A program like Duke men’s basketball can sell itself to five-star recruits in a million different ways. The Blue Devils have won five national championships since 1991, produced five No. 1 overall picks in the NBA draft, and perennially claim multiple All-Stars at the professional level.
Duke basketball signees Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top 25 players in 247Sports’ Class of 2025 rankings, expanded upon their reason for picking the Blue Devils earlier this week.
Their father, Carlos Boozer, won a national championship with the Blue Devils back in 2001, but the twins had their own reasons for coming to Duke.
Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward and the third-ranked player in the class, cited some of the elite players at his position who recently played their college ball in Durham, citing names like Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, Jayson Tatum, and Brandon Ingram. The first two went first overall in their respective draft classes, and Tatum already has an NBA title and two Olympic gold medals at 26 years old.
“I think just the blueprint that they’ve had is what I envision myself becoming,” Cameron said. “So that was a big part of me coming here.”

Cayden, a 6-foot-4 point guard currently ranked 24th on the 247Sports board, talked about the exposure and competition involved with the Blue Devils for his half of the decision.
“It is the biggest stage,” Cayden said. “Every game is on national [television], you’re playing the best teams in the country.”
Cameron had a quick comeback for that last point, however.
“You can’t play the best team in the country if you are the best team,” he told his brother.
